Item: 1/32 1/32 Spitfire Mk. II Horizontal Tail Surfaces

One item often overlooked by modelers and manufacturers alike is the ordinance. While a great deal of attention is devoted to cockpit details and the exterior, the appearance of many fine kits is spoiled by the shapeless blobs hanging beneath them that are meant to pass for bombs. While some are done better than others, at a minimum, most have overly thick fins that look out of place when the latest resin and/or photo-etch enhancements are installed.

Master Details has stepped into this void with the first in what I hope will be an extensive line of finely detailed bombs. In this case they have released the Mk.82 500LB general purpose bomb. The set comes with 2 bombs. With Master Details, however, it is all about the options and this set is no different. Alternate parts include mechanical impact nose fuses, mechanical time fuses, conical nose plugs, target recognition devices, “daisy cutter” fuse extenders and lugs for both pylon and triple ejector racks. A comprehensive painting guide is also included which is especially helpful in covering the various options for inert or live weapons.

parts In addition, the fins are provided separately so scale thickness is ensured. Master Details has also thoughtfully included an alignment tool for the fins to make sure they go on at the proper angles.

All in all, this is a great set and one that should add a special touch to your next 1/32 F-4, F-100, F-8 or A-7.
